This folder includes the following tools: DvapUpdater103.zip Download and unzip DvapUpdater103.exe onto your desktop. Double click on the program to run. Click on "Read DVAP Info" to see your current firmware version and serial number. If your firmware version is less than 1.03, click on "Update DVAP Firmware" to update. See http://www.dvapdongle.com/tools/DVAPUpdater-screenshot.JPG for an example of what it looks like before the update. DvapUtil102.zip Download and unzip DvapUtil.exe onto your desktop. Set the "Center Freq" to "146.0000" and click "Connect" to connect to the DVAP. You should see the firmware version and serial number. Click "Start" to begin sweeps of the 2M band. Click on "Show Pk" to show the peak signal readings during the test. Click "Stop" to stop the sweep. Be very careful not to change the value in "Freq Calibration" unless you have a very accurate frequency counter or station monitor. To calibrate the frequency, make sure you are connected to the DVAP and then click on "Tx On" to turn on the transmitter. Watch your frequency counter or station monitor and adjust the "Freq Calibration" until the "Center Freq" matches your measurement. Click on "Tx On" to uncheck and turn off the transmitter. There is a header on the DVAP circuit board that can be used to control an external relay. Please be very careful when adding external components to this header. Damage caused by adding external components is not covered by the warranty. As you will notice from the "Ext Switch" drop down selection box, you can turn the relay "Off", "On", "TxOn" (turn on while transmitting), "RxOn" (turn on while receiving), "SqOn" (turn on when squelch is broken), "DTMF 'A''B'" (turn on using DTMF key 'A' and off with DTMF key 'B')), and "DTMF 'A'" (toggle on/off with DTMF key 'A'). See http://www.dvapdongle.com/tools/DVAPUtil-screenshot.JPG for an example of what it looks like. DvapFMSetup102.zip Download and unzip DvapFMSetup102.exe. Double click on the program to run the installer. This will place the DvapFM program in your start menu. Select "Start->DvapFM->DvapFM" to run the program. There are two modes, local and remote. If you click on "Remote" to check, the program will record and repeat FM audio back to your radio. With "Remote" unchecked, the program will forward FM audio to your soundcard. You can select the soundcard using the "Setup" menu item. You can ignore the com port setup item for now. In remote mode, you can record mailboxes 0-9 by holding down PTT and pressing DTMF keys '*' and then 0-9. Then unkey and it will prompt for a message and then key up and talk. To recall a mailbox simply hold down PTT and press the DTMF key 0-9 to get the mailbox 0-9. In local mode, you can transmit to the radio using your mic/soundcard. Simply hold down the "ctrl" key to transmit. See http://www.dvapdongle.com/tools/DVAPFM-screenshot.JPG for an example of what it looks like. These programs currently run under Windows XP/Vista/7 only. The functions will be included in a future release of DVAPTool for MacOS X and Linux. Thanks go to Moe Wheatley (AE4JY) for writing these test programs so that users can play with the new functions in the firmware before they are incorporated into DVAPTool.
